Solitude

Inside his mind, there where he still was at peace, where no pain and fear could reach him, he found happiness. It was like being in a cloud, the fod surrounding him. He stepped into the warm water, a breeze playing with his hair. Closing his eyes, he reached with one hand into the waves and found a moment when nothing could touch him. He felt someone standing behind him, an eternity away on the beach, whispering his name so silent, with a tremble in the deep voice that spoke of grief and loss. Quain. He wanted to turn around and run, run towards him and threw himself into the arms he knew would never hold him again. They had taken James from him, his life, everything. He was alone forever. A tear escaped his eyes. Here in his mind, and in reality. At least they couldn't take the memories away from him, the happiness, the bliss, here in his solitude.
