Lost in thought, Ishtanu looked out of the window over the desert that was now his home for so many years.
One day, there would be a better life for him. One day, he would choose who he shares his bed with. One day, there would be a man and a home for him too and not only expensive gifts from suitors without a meaning. For the slave with the weird eyes, for the slave without a home and a family. They took his home, they took his pride, they took even his name. "Jar" they called him. Gemstone. Because of his amethyst colored eyes.
They could take everything from him. But not his dreams.
One day. He just knew it. Because...THIS life, it couldn't be everything.
